State standard reference sample of BET surface of particulate and porous materials
GSO 7912-2001

INTENDED USE OF STATE STANDARD SAMPLES:

  • scaling and calibrating instruments for measuring BET surface;
  • evaluating and assuring the precision of measurement techniques based on the BET method;
  • For calibration testing and testing of instruments used for measuring BET surface for approval purposes, provided the standard sample complies with the metrological and technical specifications.

AREA OF APPLICATION: 

  - state regulatory:  evaluating industrial products (and other products and objects as set forth in the law of the Russian Federation) for their compliance with mandatory requirements; performance of state control (and supervision); 

  - possible intended use:  electronic  engineering industry, instrument engineering, environmental protection, product testing and quality assurance, scientific research

DESCRIPTION:

A standard sample material is comprised of white spherical granules, 0.4 to 3.0 mm in diameter.
The original standard sample material complies with technical specifications of ТУ 6-68-158-98 with amendment 2 (grade А, Д, Е) "Spherical carrier for a composite material".

Standard sample is packaged in 5 g portions into flasks sealed with threaded plugs and labeled as per GOST R 8.691-2010. Each state standard sample item comes with a manufacture’s certificate and user manual written in compliance with GOST R 8.691-2010.

NORMALIZED METROLOGICAL SPECIFICATIONS:

Quality to be evaluated – the BET method for surface area determination (Brunauer, Emmett and Teller)
Admissible value range for the standard sample: 1 m2/g to 200 m2/g
Admissible relative error limit (for a confidence level of 0.95.) ±2 %

SERVICE LIFE OF SAMPLE: 2 years
After the service life has expired, the sample can be retested

       State standard samples are produced in short-run small batches

INTENDED USE OF STANDARD SAMPLES:
  • measurement instruments calibration (SI);
  • the accuracy check of the results of measuring the sorption characteristics of nanoporous materials;
  • calibration testing for compliance with SI and attesting the techniques of measuring the sorption characteristics of nanoporous materials;
  • SI and standard sample testing in order to approve the instrument type also for other types of metrological assessment provided that its metrological specifications comply with the standard requirements.

AREA OF APPLICATION: scientific research, nanoindustry.

DESCRIPTION: 
The standard sample material is granulated nanoporous aluminum oxide that complies with the requirements set forth in
ТУ 2163-015-94262278-2009.
The standard sample is packaged in 25 g jars with threaded lids.
Each standard sample item comes a passport with user manual.

NORMALIZED METROLOGICAL SPECIFICATIONS:   
Evaluated characteristic: 

  • BET surface;
  • specific pore volume;
  • average pore diameter; 
  • specific adsorption values (sorption capacity).
Admissible relative error limits (for a confidence level of 0.95.) depend
on the characteristic, ±(2–3) %.
SERVICE LIFE OF SAMPLE: 6 months

    State standard samples are produced in small short-run lots (FGUP UNIIM, Yekaterinburg).
